With three different courses to choose from, you’ll focus your attentions on the areas of the gaming industry that most excite you – from the visuals that captivate players to the technologies that deliver a flawless gaming experience. With the guidance of industry experts and access to tools like Unreal Engine, you’ll immerse yourself in projects that combine creativity and technical expertise to master the skills this fast-moving industry demands.

Three courses to choose from:

BA (Hons) Games Art and Technology gives students in-depth knowledge of the art development process, exploring aspects such as environment and character design alongside technical art skills.

BA (Hons) Games Design and Development builds students’ understanding of players motivations and in-game interactions, with focus on structure and narrative.

BSc (Hons) Animation, an interdisciplinary programme designed to prepare students for careers in the animation, games, and film industries.
During the first year of each of our courses, you will develop the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for your games industry specialism. They’ll give you a strong foundation of theoretical understanding and practical skills that you’ll use throughout your studies and into your professional career.
Then, from your second year, you’ll continually apply and practise all you’ve learned in your first year. With a “play first” teaching-style at the core of each course, you’ll learn by experimenting, iterating and exploring, all while developing a skillset that’ll make you stand out.
As part of our creative community, you’ll also have opportunities to collaborate with students from our music, filmmaking and acting degrees, allowing you to apply your skills in new and unique ways. You’ll have access to the same software and hardware the industry uses today. You’ll work with games engines like Unity and Unreal and experiment in programmes like Maya, ZBrush and Substance – all on specialist gaming PCs.
